Please see below, an important note from the volunteers at RMNE:
Dear Friends,
We are looking forward to hosting you on your upcoming train experience where you will embark on a journey through the Naugatuck River Valley!
To make your visit as smooth and enjoyable as possible, we have some important information to bring to your attention:
ADDRESS: Boarding is at Thomaston Station, 242 East Main Street, Thomaston, CT – please note that because our station is positioned below an overpass, GPS will have you stop in the road on the overpass – we recommend that you adhere to the directions below.
ARRIVAL TIME: All trains leave precisely at their scheduled times – please plan to be at the Station at least 30 minutes prior to departure to allow for parking and retrieving your tickets. Please plan your drive with weather and traffic taken into account as refunds/transfers will not be made for missed trains.
PARKING is free onsite at the Thomaston Station. Carpooling is encouraged when possible.
WEATHER: Trains will run during rain or snow except in a case when the State of Connecticut issues orders that roads are officially closed due to treacherous conditions Only if this happens will refunds/rescheduling be offered.
TICKETS are not mailed – passengers will pick up their tickets the day of their scheduled ride at the “Will Call” counter inside of the historic Thomaston Station.
RESTROOMS: There are NO restrooms on the trains; our restrooms are located just south of the station.

Where may I buy tickets?
Tickets are available online through our online ticketing system, or at our Thomaston Station ticket counter the day of the train on a first come/first served basis. For more popular trains, tickets may not be available the day of the event, so we encourage purchasing online in advance. Major credit cards are accepted, both online and at the station.
Where do I board from?
All of our trains leave from the Historic Thomaston Station, 242 East Main Street, Thomaston Connecticut. Directions to the station can be found on our Directions page. Please note that GPS directions may not be accurate.
How soon before departure should I arrive?
We ask all passengers to please arrive at least 30 minutes before the time your train leaves, so that you will have adequate time to pick up your tickets in the station, and use the restroom prior to boarding. Boarding typically begins about 10 minutes prior to departure. All trains depart at their scheduled times.
How long is the train ride?
Most of our rides are approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes in length. This includes the Easter Bunny, Summer Scenic, Fall Foliage/Pumpkin Patch, and Northern Lights Limited/Santa Express. The Chocolate Decadence tour usually runs about 3 1/2 hours, not including time for appetizers at the station. Any other special events will have the length of the ride listed.
Where do I pick up my tickets?
All tickets purchased prior to the day of the train ride are available at our “Will Call” counter inside the Thomaston Station. You do not need to bring the ticket confirmation, as all tickets are printed with the customers’ names. Tickets can also be purchased the day of the train ride, although we recommend that you purchase ahead of time to ensure availability.
Is parking close to the train?
Parking is free and is located on site, across the tracks from the station. Handicap parking is available under the overpass next to the station.
Are there restrooms on board the train?
We do not have any restrooms on the train. Public restrooms are available in the “comfort coach”, the green building at the south end of the station. It is available for use both before and after the ride, and we recommend its use before the train departs.
Are refreshments available?
Refreshments are available in the station at no cost, but a donation is suggested so we can continue to make snacks and drinks available.
Where can I find out more about the different train rides?
Each of our seasonal train rides is listed as its own page under the “Seasonal Events” tab on our website, and includes all you need to know about each event, along with a link to our ticket page.
What seating choices are available?
Most tickets are general “Coach” seating, although First Class seating is offered for select events and will be listed if available. With the exception of Christmas trains, all trains have seating on a first come/first serve basis. For Northern Lights and Santa trains, seating is assigned by car, as these trains are usually sold out. If you wish to sit with another group, but are purchasing tickets separately, please enter the group name in the “Seat With” box during ticket selection. This will ensure that you are seated with the group you wish to be with when we assign coaches.
RMNE Refund & Cancellation Policy
All Ticket Sales are Final and No Refunds are Given. In the event that the RMNE cancels a train due to severe weather conditions, road closures, or for other reasons, refunds or transfers of tickets will be offered. Ticket Exchanges for other trains can be made (subject to availability and the ticket agents discretion) with at least 24-hour notice. A $2 per ticket transfer fee will apply. No refunds are given for no-shows.
