  • A diverse collection representative of New England railroading including locomotives, passenger and freight cars, and cabooses
  • New England railroad artifacts covering the period from the 1840s to the present- from ticket stubs to signal towers

After three decades of preserving and restoring New England's railroad heritage, RMNE was looking for a new home. Deciding that the rail line was a good fit for RMNE’s future plans, the new Naugatuck Railroad was incorporated June 7, 1995 as a wholly owned subsidiary. The first passenger trains ran in October of 1996. We currently operate between Thomaston and the Waterville section of Waterbury.

To be a part of the Museum’s exciting future, just fill out the membership application. Remember, as a member, you can take an active role in building an operating, world-class railroad Museum! Take part in the restoration of historic locomotives and rolling stock, build and maintain track and signal systems, guide tours, help with the archives, assist in fundraising, and so much more.
