Almost Done
« on: 20-Jun-2018, 10:35:38 »
"Team Saybrook" has completed the mission of removing all RMNE items from the Saybrook Yard, including the compressor shed, compressor and any remaining tools.
Salvaged parts, including a steel end assembly from former work train car W-174, have been removed from the yard.  Following contractor's work on dismantling the carcass of W-174, a crew will make one final sweep of the yard before completing our era of involvement at the Valley.  Those of us who were involved during this era will remember that members of our organization played a key effort in the creation of the Valley, starting with the formation of the RMNE's predecessor Connecticut Valley Railroad Association in January 1968, on the Valley property at Essex by 1969, and providing most of the operating staff when the trains began in 1971.
Various CVRA projects that remain at the Valley today include the train order signal at Essex, most of it salvaged from Meredith, NH; a tool shed that served the New Haven Tool Train from the New Haven shop yard, and the former Quinnipiac station that was salvaged and completely rebuilt in the early 1980s and transplanted to Chester.

Any suggested destination for what we'll keep from the Erie boxcar?

As far as I know, we still have seat parts stored inside the Erie boxcar as Al Pomeroy reported.  I believe that car is on the Essex display track and should be accessible when the Valley RR is hibernating over the winter with prior arrangement.
