Have you ever dreamed of running a locomotive?
Ever wonder what it takes to be an engineer? Now is your
chance!
Run a diesel locomotive along the scenic Naugatuck Railroad.
Learn and apply the skills of a locomotive engineer on a
stretch of the “Naugy” under the careful supervision
of a certified instructor. The numerous curves and grades
of the upper portion of our railroad will test your abilities
as an engineer. Engineer for an Hour® is an integral
part of the Railroad Museum of New England's education program.
Each participant gets a full hour at the throttle. Participants
must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver's license.
Due to the Federal Railroad Administration regulations, only
the EFH® participant and the instructing
engineer are permitted in the locomotive cab while it is
moving. Others (family members, friends, etc.) may visit
the cab while the locomotive is stationary at East Litchfield
station, before or after a session. No one else may ride
along during the one-hour session. Unfortunately, we cannot
make exceptions to this rule. The Railroad Museum of New
England reserves the right to substitute equipment as needed.
We appreciate your understanding in advance.

Cost is $285.00 per session. This includes
a one-year membership in the Railroad Museum of New England,
plus a package of printed materials sent in advance of the
learning session. All EFH® sessions must be reserved in
advance, according to our schedule of available days. A specific
date and time will only be considered as reserved upon receipt
of full payment, or when your credit card is charged.
All
reservations and
payments MUST be made through the
Thomaston Station Agent. Contact
the Thomaston Station Agent for
more information concerning reservations
and payments.
